How are titles selected for ShotDeck?

Each title’s shots on ShotDeck are carefully hand-selected by our team of image taggers. Our library has now grown to include millions of images from films, TV series, music videos, and commercials — and it continues to expand every day as we add new works and receive user suggestions.

When deciding which titles get broken down and tagged first, we draw from a master list of tens of thousands of titles that we’ve been building for years. We organize and prioritize these by a variety of factors, including visual style, place in cinema history, diversity of subject and filmmaker, country of origin, the creative judgment of our team, and — importantly — the input of our users. We really do listen to suggestions, and titles with a higher number of requests are often pushed to the front of the queue.

One limitation we face is availability: we can only include titles where we are able to acquire a high-quality source. There are still works we’d love to feature but that remain unavailable at the quality level we’re looking for. That said, we’re always working to expand access to the titles our community wants most, so things can change.

Ultimately, we want ShotDeck to include all of your favorite films and series, award winners, music videos, commercials, and visually iconic titles, while also being a place of discovery for new, under-appreciated, and previously unseen talent. So please keep suggesting titles, and we’ll continue working to build ShotDeck into the essential library of cinematic imagery.
